Make your cells young again to combat atherosclerosis, improve circulation, and even reverse aging Angioplasty and coronary bypass are two of the most common surgeries performed today. But despite the procedures' widespread use, how successful are they really Research tells us that up to half of all angioplasty patients experience restenosis (another blockage of the same artery) within six months of the procedure. And up to 20 percent of bypass patients see their grafts close up again within a year of surgery.

The researchers then stopped and restarted the rodents' - mimicking the conditions used in heart bypass surgery. They found that the hearts of the mice with coronary artery disease were less likely to be harmed than the hearts of healthy mice. This suggests that coronary artery disease "preconditioned" - they'd developed an innate protection against further damage, said the authors of the study, which is published in the October issue of the journal Critical Care Medicine.

Also in 1998, another aspect of vitamin C's effect on coronary artery disease was discovered. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (1998; 5, 6) showed that low plasma ascorbic acid levels independently predict the presence of an unstable coronary syndrome in heart disease patients. According to the doctors, the study's results showed that the beneficial effects of vitamin C in treating coronary artery disease may result, in part, by an influence on arterial wall lesion activity rather than a reduction in the overall extent of fixed disease.

The study carried in 2 groups : experimental and control group by every 3 months questionnairs. The experimental group consisted of 23 cases men = 14, women 9 Age range 45-75 years (mean = 58 years) by exercise under supervised 18 sessions (2-3 times per weeks). The control group consisted of 82 cases men = 47, women = 35 Age range 29-82 years (mean = 60 years) only individual instruction the exercise home program as outpatient basis. The result showed difference between 2 groups in functional activity. The control group is less improvement than the experinmental group. The benefit of exercise phase II in post CABG patients improved the functional activity both groups and no adversed effect during exercise.

THURSDAY, April 19 (HealthDay News) - eluting stents had roughly the same risk and the same outcomes as bypass surgery for patients with coronary artery disease, researchers report. "What it means is if you find yourself in a situation where a bypass surgery is refused and the patient elects to have percutaneous treatment rather than bypass, we can do it, " said senior study author Dr. James Wilson, program director of the cardiology fellowship program at St. Luke' Texas Heart Institute in Houston. "We're not causing harm by doing it."

This study was done in case of adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder to compare the treatment between subacromial bursa injection with 1% lidocaine 10 milliliters with normal saline 10 milliliters and conventional physical therapy treatment. Thirty-one patients with primary adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder were assigned at random into two groups. The patient (n=16) which labeled as group 1 were received subacromial bursa injection with 1%-lidocine 10 milliliters with normal saline 10 milliliters at weekly interval for four weeks. The others (n=15) which labeled as group 2 were received regularly conventional physical therapy treatment for four weeks. All patients performed the same home exercise program. Pain and range of motion were evaluated at the first day of treatment and weekly for four weeks. There were no significant differences between two groups after four weeks of treatment in term of pain relieve measurement (p>0.05) and range of motion improvement (p>0.05).
