A Steerable Tube? No Way!
A Steerable Tube? No Way!

When you buy conventional fluorescent tubes, be sure to get the "high accuracy" type for good color temperature. At most store displays, laminated cards carry the relevant information about every type of tube sold.
Stearns has introduced a new triangular-shaped towable tube that the rider can actually steer. No more white-knuckle rides from boat drivers who think it's a riot to whip a tuber close to shore.
The patent-pending steering system on Stearns' new Zig uses four fins on the tube's underside, and a tow line and handle similar to those used in water skiing. To steer right, pull the handle to left and shift lower your lower body to the right, and vice-versa to steer left. With Zig, riders can cut across and jump wakes whenever they want. And because it also has a line attached, the boat pulls the tube, not the rider.
Zig is constructed of 30-gauge vinyl and wrapped with an 840 denier nylon shell. It also features a safety chamber that ensures the tube will float if the main tube is punctured, and padded grips for comfort. Suggested retail price is $119.99.
