A full-featured longboard, the Phoenix is a well-rounded design with equal emphasis on planing and non-planing performance. In fact, we think it's the best all-around board in its class. Particularly impressive are its stiff and business-like feel when going upwind with the centerboard down - almost like a race board - and its ability not only to initiate a jibe easily, but to maintain speed through a turn. On a reach, it's fast, though not quite as free of the water as some. Good components, including an excellent centerboard gasket, make this board a little more costly but worth it. E
