It’s a pontoon, OK? It rides on aluminum tubes and has gates, a big deck and lots of furniture … like a pontoon. But if you couldn’t see all that, and only experienced some of the things we did on the Premier Majestic 250 RE PT Xpress, you’d wonder. It goes 44 mph. A gargantuan 36-inch center tube (most three-tube pontoons have a 25-inch center tube) adds enough buoyancy for you to hang a 225-hp Mercury OptiMax and flat out move. We went from 0 to 30 in less than eight seconds. And because it’s a planing pontoon, the acceleration is as smooth as can be.
It does donuts tight enough to make a ball of yarn. There aren’t many boats that allow you to turn the wheel as far as it will go while pushing the throttle down farther ... and not skip out. The Majestic 250 has lifting strakes on its outer tubes, which, combined with that huge center tube, creates more of a centered running surface.
It has an in-floor ski locker. This is the first time we’ve ever seen this on a pontoon. With the size of the middle tube, Premier found a way to create a hatch in the deck so you can fit at least four skis inside. It’s a great concept, and one of the best pontoon boat innovations we saw during our tests.
It has a galley-esque entertainment area. You get a freshwater sink with a three-gallon water supply, garbage receptacle, cutting board and refrigerator.
It has a double-wide helm seat. It’s always nice to have this in a big bowrider or cruiser, but not real common in pontoons. This seat, like all seats in the Majestic, is double-hinged for easy access to roto-molded storage cavities.
Oh, and one more thing: It’ll accelerate to 30 mph long before you can say Premier Majestic 250 RE PT Xpress. Nice Touches 1. A standard cooler is stowed under the driver’s seat 2. Lots of deck space outside the gates for easy pick-up and drop-off at the dock 3. Fenders can be stored under head rests up front 4. Under-helm storage compartment is double-walled with a solid latch
