Ropes & Handles
O.K. You have your compression molded, graphite reinforced, top-of-the-line board. You have your super-durable, custom-designed bindings. You even have a mackin' boat with an insane wake. But if you think that's the extent of your wakeboard repertoire, think again. Believe it or not, your choice in ropes and handles can affect your ride almost as much as a bad board, crappy bindings and a john boat.
Rubatex Msds If you wakeboard, you know that handles can zing into the boat, often at high speeds. Flying ropes and handles have been known to break mirrors and windshields, wrap around throttles and body parts and out-right hit drivers and passengers, often causing serious injury. So don't even think about waltzing into your local Army & Navy Sporting Goods up on the corner and grabbing the first pre-bagged rope and handle set that you see. Get educated.

Rubatex Closed Cell Gasketing What does that techno-jargon boil down too? Non-stretch, non-stretch, non-stretch. Straight Line, Masterline, Accurate, Hardline, O'Brien, Wake Zone, Liquid Force.....they all offer non-stretch lines. If you can't find those names, or the package in your hands doesn't say non-stretch, here's the simplest way to determine if a rope is dangerous. Push your rope together and hold for a few seconds before releasing. Stretchy rope returns quickly to it's original form. The low- and non-stretch varieties will remain deformed.
Handles, as you know, come in all lengths and sizes. Oval. Round. Octagon. Tractor. 12. 13. 15. All with different grip textures. Choosing one is simply a matter of personal preference. Do you want your hands tight together or do you want more room to move around and grab? Do you like it really grippy or more smooth? Most of the pros look for wider handles with the tractor grip, and lightweight, thin ropes. Our advice: Test 'em out. See what feels best for you.
